CME Group to Launch 24/7 Crypto Futures and Options Trading in May
CME Group is set to revolutionize institutional crypto trading with round-the-clock futures and options markets starting May 29. The MOVE eliminates weekend gaps in trading, aligning CME with the ceaseless rhythm of digital asset markets.
CFTC Chair Mike Selig endorsed the model as a "no-brainer," while traditional exchanges like Nasdaq and NYSE explore similar round-the-clock systems. CME's crypto derivatives already processed $3 trillion in notional volume during 2025's record-breaking year.
"Always-on access lets clients manage risk within regulated parameters," said Tim McCourt, CME's global head of equities and crypto products. The change responds to institutional demand for continuous exposure to a market known for volatile weekend moves.
